At Robin House

Robin House, in Balloch, is a 'home from home' for families. It has a range of facilities including a pool room, music room, teenage den and large accessible garden and lots of areas for relaxing and fun. It also has quiet areas for reflection, bereavement support and care. Here are some of the friendly faces you will meet there.

Social Worker

As a CHAS social worker I am committed to improving the lives of babies, children, young people and their families. Being a palliative social worker enables me to advocate for and with families. Caring for, Respecting and being Honest with families and others is key to my day to day role. It is an honour to be allowed to be part of this journey.

Physiotherapist

I am one of the Physio’s who work for CHAS and I have the benefit of working at both Robin and Rachel House. I love the fact that I get up each morning knowing that whichever house I’m at that day I will be working with a cohesive and friendly team of people all working together in striving to meet the needs of each of the families. Each day is different because each baby, child or young person is an individual and we are in the privileged position of being able to provide the time and care that they need and to get to know them better and better during each of their visits.

Gardener

I am the gardener at Robin House and manage a six acre site. I work alongside a very dedicated group of volunteers who help maintain all our different gardens. We have a rose garden, kitchen garden, Mediterranean garden, a pirate ship and a castle! We aim to cater for the whole family when they visit Robin House as we fully understand the therapeutic value of being out in nature. There are areas for reflection and chilling out. We have a wheelchair accessible roundabout and swing and our castle for “risky play” for our siblings. We try to engage the community twice a year with open days in our gardens by having a Spring Clean in Spring and a Bring a Bulb in Autumn.

Chaplain

As the chaplain at Robin House Children’s Hospice in Balloch, I am privileged to journey with children, young people, parents and grand parents through the happiest of times as well as the darkest of times. I’m here to offer support and look after both the Spiritual and Religious needs of the children, young people, families, staff and volunteers of all faiths and none.

However, the majority of my work is about providing Emotional and Spiritual care and support. This support is not necessarily religious. Spiritual care is about meeting people where they’re at and helping them make sense of their lives. Many people I encounter are struggling with big questions and need help to explore and make sense of what’s happening in their life. Spiritual care is about journeying with others as they explore what’s important to them. It’s about exploring and holding on to hope. I am a people person and love working with and getting to know the children and families I encounter at Robin House ( and I also love Boy George!).
